Artist Lisa Prior organised a subtly subversive exhibition Insider Trading in the Mandeville Hotel, London. Up for only one day, the show was in Prior's words a kind of 'drive-by shooting'. Inspired by the time she spent working for a hedge fund in Wall Street, Prior invited forty-eight artists she knew and admired to participate in Insider Trading. They in turn asked forty-seven others. The deal? That the artists all trade a piece of work thereby cutting out the dealers and collectors who control the international art market. The show undermined the establishment by beating it at its own game.
